Welcome to HRD Racing

HRD Racing (Holladay Research and Development, LLC) was founded in 1979 by Harold, Norma, and Rory Holladay. What started as a need for improved safety and more durable products for the Honda FL 250 Odyssey soon became a full blown offroad race team with such successes as two Mickey Thompson Entertainment Group Stadium Superlite Championships and one SCORE Offroad World Championship. In fact, every Odyssey/Superlite Champion ever crowned in the MTEG series was equipped with an HRD Racing Powerbloc Clutch.
In 1994 Harold was introduced to the Jr Dragster scene and HRD Racing took a turn in that direction. Soon Harold had developed a Powerbloc clutching system for his new form of racing. As with the offroad racing, the clutching system was a huge success with numerous track Championships and an untold amount of race victories under its belt.
Fast forward to January of 2001. Harold received news that the National Hot Rod Association was proposing a new class called Jr Comp. This is where things got tasty. Harold enlisted the help of Norm Porter, of NSP Race Cars, and along with the help from NHRA's George Phillips, set out to develop a car and class that would give the Jr Dragster drivers a place to race once they hit the age limit of the class. Three and a half years later, on July 22, 2004, the first Jr Comp car was certified by the NHRA. The class launched in February and the car made its first major debut in a display at the 2005 NHRA Winter Nationals.
